Q: Does the lower shelf have a slope?

A: Yes, the bottom of our shower niches have a 1 degree slope outwards to prevent water pooling.

Q: Will my soap slip off the shelf on the N1014?

A: No. All our niches with shelves have slots in them to prevent your soap from slipped off. However, it may slip off the bottom level of the niche due to its slope. This level is best used for shampoo bottles, etc.

Q: How do you install tile on your shower niche?

A: Our niches are already finished with an attractive brushed stainless steel finish so no tiling is required. You may be confusing our niche with one of the various prefabricated niche boxes that are available on the market that requires tile to be installed on their surface.

Q: When you mention “built in tile edge trim” on your shower niches, what are you referring to?

A: We are referring to the raised 1/2″ wide flange that surrounds the niche perimeter. Your shower wall tile gets installed right over top of the mounting flange so this raised area serves as a tile trim around the niche perimeter.

Q: Does your shower niche come in any other colors or finishes?

A: At the moment we only offer our shower niches in a brushed stainless steel finish.

Q:  What is 316 stainless steel? And what is the difference between 316 and 304 stainless steel?

A:  316 stainless steel is one of the most corrosion-resistant types of steel available. It’s more rare and costly than 304 SS due to its molybdenum content, which provides its superior corrosion resistance. 304 SS is still very corrosion resistant but it does not perform well when exposed to more corrosive cleaning agents like chlorine bleach. 304 SS is used in virtually all consumer products including appliances, kitchen sinks, cookware and bathroom fixtures.

Q: Can I order a custom sized niche?

A: No, currently we are not building any custom niches. However, we are planning to create one or two more niche models in the near future. You can join our mailing list if you’d like to stay informed about new products.

Q: Q: Can your shelf be installed in an existing tiled shower niche?

A: No. Our shelf is designed to rest on the top edge of the side wall tiles of your shower niche (in the grout line). This can only be accomplished if it is installed during the tile installation stage of your shower niche installation. See our rb3 Shower Niche Shelf Install Guide for more info.

Q: I read somewhere that you need to make sure that shower niche shelves slope outwards. How would I do this with the rb3 shelf?

A: The only reason most shower niche shelves need to be sloped, is to ensure that water drains off the front edge. Since our shelf is slotted, water drains away so you can install it level without worrying about the water pooling problems associated with ordinary shower niche shelf installations.

Q: Does your rb3 shelf come in any other finishes than Polished and brushed Stainless?

A: At the moment our shelves only come in these two finishes, but we are planning to introduce a few other finishes soon. You can join our mailing list if you’d like to stay up to date with all our new product announcements.

Q: Since the rb3 shelf is 2 1/2″ wide, and my niche is 3 1/2″, where do you recommend we install it? Is it better to place it at the back or near the front of the niche

A: It’s totally up to you where you install it but we generally recommend that it be installed as close to the front of the niche as possible to maximize the storage area. The only extra advice we give is to avoid the shelf coming in contact with any metal tile edge trim because it may dull the shelf finish over time.
