Product Description
As remodel professionals, my brother & I have installed A LOT of shower shelf products over the years. There were always poor quality, and flimsy surface mounted options available, but no permanent, recessed, waterproof, “finished” shower shelf options with simple installation. All the recessed shower niches (SN’s) out there either required tiling/ grouting, OR they were crude stainless steel niches, made of 304 SS, and designed only for retrofit installs (no waterproofing). As such, we designed a recessed stainless steel shower niche with shelf, that solves all your shower storage problems. A niche that checks all your new shower remodel boxes – The Redblock N1014-M was our first baby, then came the N1028-M; an evolution of the N1014-M design with more storage space and two slotted shelves.
Looking for an easy install shower niche?
Throw away your rickety shower caddy. Say goodby to stained grout lines and moldy silicone caulking, the Redblock stainless steel shower niche installs in about 15 minutes into any bathtub alcove or shower surround. Since it installs between the wall studs, it’s completely recessed into the shower wall. No more worries about bumping into surface mounted shelves. Your soap, shampoo, and conditioner are always within reach, yet completely out of your way.
Dread the thought of tiling your niche? – Try a Finished Shower Niche
The Redblock N1028-M stainless steel shower niche is a completely finished storage solution that requires no tiling. The interior is 10″ wide. There’s a 3.5 inch space above the top slotted shelf, 11″ between the first and second shelf, and 13.5 inches in the bottom section, so it offers a ton of storage, as well as a brushed stainless steel finish – much easier to install and maintain than any tiled SN, AND waterproof integrity that’s far superior to any retrofit SN. And the best thing?… not tile needed!
Unhappy that your soap slips off the shelf, or melts away?
The rounded drainage slots on our two integrated shelves were designed to solves both problems, while still being easy to clean.
Tired of the sharp edges and crude finishing?
Redblock has created a new standard of shower niche shelving. The shelves are welded to the niche side walls, so there’s no attachment to the back wall of the niche. They’re also CNC chamfered creating ultra smooth, burr-free edges around the perimeter, and around every slot. Another reason why all Redblock shelf products exceed your expectations.
Tired of the moldy soap scum buildup?
Since the slotted shelves in the Redblock stainless steel shower niche are welded only to the sides of the niche box, a 1/2 inch gap remains behind the shelves. This eliminates soap scum buildup in the back corners of your SN shelves, AND makes them super easy to clean!
Worried about rust?
The Redblock stainless steel shower niche is constructed entirely from super corrosion resistant, low carbon, 316L stainless steel. We decided to convert our niches (& our shelves) from regular 304 SS to 316L SS because of the increased use of chlorinated cleaning products since the pandemic, AND the corrosive effects of hard water on standard 304 Grade stainless steel. In other words… no more worries about rust.
Stressed about leaky niches?
The Redblock stainless steel shower niche has been carefully and thoughtfully designed to be a seamless, waterproof beast. The body (including the shelves) is welded together into a single unibody frame, making it impenetrable to water. The two slotted shelves are 3mm thick, and the body is made from 1.2mm thick stainless sheets. That means no leaks… not in one year… not in 100 years.
Anxious about breaching the Waterproofing Membrane?
We created the M-Block™ flange assembly (which includes mounting flange & tile trim) to firmly attach it to the shower wall, to integrate perfectly with your shower wall waterproofing membrane (sheet or liquid), and to provide an attractive trim for your surrounding porcelain wall tiles.
Irked about a damp and moldy washcloth?
When you’re finished showering, just hang up your washing puff, brush, cloth or loofah on one of the shelf accessory hangers, and it’ll be dry for your next shower!

FAQ’s
Does the lower shelf have a slope?
Yes, the bottom of our shower niches have a 1 degree slope outwards to prevent water pooling.
Will my soap slip off the shelf on the N1014?
Not a chance. The shelves in our stainless steel shower niche have slots to prevent your soap from slipped off. However, your soap may slip off the bottom level due to its slope. The lower level of both models (N1014-M & N1028-M) is best used for shampoo bottles, etc.
How do you install tile on your shower shampoo niche?
Our stainless steel shower niche is finished with an attractive brushed stainless steel finish so no tiling is required. You may be confusing our niche with one of the various prefabricated foam and ABS plastic ones available that require tile to be installed on their surface.
What does “built in tile edge trim” mean?
This is referring to the raised 1/2″ wide flange that surrounds the niche perimeter. Your wall tile gets installed right over top of the mounting flange, adjacent to this protruding trim. It serves as a tile trim around the niche perimeter so it eliminates the trim install required around you don’t have to install one, as you do with a tiled niche..
Does your shower niche come in any other colors or finishes?
At the moment we only offer our shower niches in a brushed stainless steel finish.
What is the difference between 316 and 304 stainless steel?
316 stainless steel is one of the most corrosion-resistant types of steel available. It’s more rare and costly than 304 SS due to its molybdenum content, which provides its superior corrosion resistance. 304 SS is still very corrosion resistant but it does not perform well when exposed to more corrosive cleaning agents like chlorine bleach. 304 SS is used in virtually all consumer products including appliances, kitchen sinks, cookware and bathroom fixtures.
Can I order a custom sized stainless steel shower niche?
No, currently we are not building any custom sizes. However, we are planning to create one or two more models of different sizes, the near future. You can join our mailing list if you’d like to stay informed about new products.
