The Perfect Recessed Shower Storage?
Hi, I’m Steve Gehrmann; a remodel professional, and the co-designer of the Redblock Stainless Steel shower niche. Let me take this opportunity to explain why we think this niche is so great, and why we think you will also love this niche.
I have installed A LOT of shower shelf products and niches for showers over the years. Most were poor quality, with flimsy mounting options, but there were no permanent, recessed, waterproof, “finished” niches for showers that were simple to install. All the recessed niches (SN’s) out there either required tiling/ grouting, OR they were crude stainless steel boxes, made with regular grade 304 SS, that exposed the wall to water leaks.
So… my brother and I decided to design a new kind of recessed stainless steel shower niche with a shelf, that solved all shower storage problems. A niche that checks all the boxes.
Looking for easy to install Niches for Showers?
Throw away your rickety shower caddy. Say goodby to stained grout lines and moldy silicone caulking. The Redblock stainless steel shower niche installs in your shower wall in less than 1/2 hour, between the wall studs, so it’s completely recessed into the shower wall. No more worries about bumping into surface mounted shelves. Your soap, shampoo, and conditioner are always within reach, yet completely out of your way.
Dread the thought of tiling your niche?
Lets face it, most niches for showers are tiled. The Redblock stainless steel shower niches on the other hand, are completely Finished (brushed SS) and require no tiling. The interior is 10″ wide. There’s a 3.5 inch space above the top slotted shelf, 11″ between the first and second shelf (N1028-M), and 13.5 inches in the bottom section, so it offers a ton of storage, as well as a brushed stainless steel finish – much easier to install and maintain than any tiled SN, AND waterproof integrity that’s far superior to any retrofit SN. And the best thing?… no tiling is required!
Unhappy that your soap slips off the shelf, or melts away?
Unlike shelves in most tiled niches for showers, the Redblock integrated SN shelf has drainage slots designed to solves both of these problems, while still being easy to clean.
Tired of sharp edges and crude finishing?
With most metal niches for showers, you’ll likely snag your favorite washcloth or even cut your finger on their rough burred steel edges. Redblock niche eliminates this problem with professional CNC cutouts and chamfering, creating ultra smooth, burr-free edges around the shelf perimeter, and around every slot. The shelves are also welded to the niche side walls, so there’s no attachment to the back wall of the niche. Another reason why all Redblock niche is different than ordinary niches for showers.
Tired of moldy soap scum buildup?
Since the slotted shelves in the Redblock stainless steel shower niche are welded only to the sides of the niche box, a 1/2 inch gap remains behind the shelves. This eliminates soap scum buildup in the back corners of your SN shelves, AND makes them super easy to clean!
Worried about rust?
Unlike all other stainless steel niches for showers constructed from regular 304 Grade stainless steel, the Redblock N1014-M and N1028-M niches are constructed entirely from super corrosion resistant, low carbon, 316L stainless steel. We decided to convert our niches (& our shelves) from regular 304 SS to 316L SS because of the increased use of chlorinated cleaning products since the pandemic, AND the corrosive effects of hard water on standard 304 Grade stainless steel. In other words… no more worries about rust.
Stressed about leaky niches for showers?
The Redblock stainless steel shower niche has been carefully and thoughtfully designed to be a seamless, waterproof beast. The body (including the shelves) are welded together into a single unibody frame, making it impenetrable to water. The two slotted shelves are 3mm thick, and the body is made from 1.2mm thick stainless sheets. That means no leaks… not in one year… not in 100 years.
Anxious about breaching the Waterproofing Membrane?
We created the M-Block™ flange assembly (which includes mounting flange & tile trim) to firmly attach to the shower wall, to integrate with your shower wall waterproofing membrane (sheet or liquid), and to provide an attractive trim for your surrounding porcelain wall tiles.
Irked about a damp and moldy washcloth?
Most niches for showers will have no place to hang washing accessories, including puffs, washcloths, or loofas. However, both Redblock niche models have an accessory hanger on each shelf, so you can just hang up your loofah, and it’ll be dry for your next shower!
