"Beautiful niche, easy install
Sleek, modern-looking, and a great alternative if you don't want to deal with fabricating your own niche. Will definitely use these in future bathroom projects."

Watch our step-by-step installation guide to see how the M-Block™ flange system integrates seamlessly with waterproofing membranes.
The Redblock stainless steel shower niche is a completely welded unibody box frame consisting of only 4 corner welds and four small shelf welds. That means that this niche is not only waterproof, but also completely vapor proof. Absolutely no water vapor can move through this material and condense into water in the shower wall; a VERY common problem with most other types of prefab tile-ready niches. Finally a bathroom niche that allows you to reduce the shower clutter, store all your shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toiletries, but NEVER again worry water damage from your shower niche.
The M-Block™ flange has a dual functionality. It extends around the perimeter of the niche, providing a surface on which to attach the shower wall waterproofing membrane, as well as screw holes to attach it firmly to the wall framing. Proper installation technique for a truly waterproof and moisture proof seal.
The integrated tile edge trim that surrounds the niche allows you to install shower wall tiles up to 1/2″ thick, providing a professional finish and cohesive look to your shower design.
Our marine-grade 316L stainless steel includes molybdenum for extraordinary rust resistance, making it ideal for the humid shower environment.
Yes, the bottom of our shower niches have a 1 degree slope outwards to prevent water pooling, mold and mildew accumulation.
The slotted shower shelf design allows water to drain properly, keeps your items dryer, and prevents soap from slipping while reducing soap scum buildup. It also provides slots to hang your loofa and washcloth so they can dry between showers.
First determine how many people will regularly be using the shower, and how many shampoo bottles and other shower accessories they'll need in the shower to meet all their storage needs. Then determine how many shelves you might need to accommodate these items. Assuming you install a vertical niche (between the wall studs) the dimension of the shelf should be around 12 inches x 3 1/2 inches (42 inches square). Then, if you assume that you'll be varying the heights of your shelves to accommodate all the short and tall items, you'll have a pretty good idea how many shelves you'll need, and approximately how high you niche needs to be. Then choose which prefab (tiled) or finished vertical shower wall niche (or niches) you'll need based on this.
The best materials to use for a tiled niche in a shower is the foam board that most prefab shower niches are made from. This material is waterproof and moisture resistant so it will reduce the risk of water damage in the wall framing. Certain finished shower niches are entirely waterproof and moisture proof, so they can eliminate the risk of water damage entirely but most brands are still vulnerable to leaks around their perimeter.
All shower niches (Tile-Ready niches and Finished niches) need to be attached to the shower wall framing during a full remodeling of your shower. This is the only way that they can be structurally attached to the wall, to the tile assembly and to the waterproofing membrane.
A ready-made or "Finished" bathroom shower niche is a complicated beast, because when it comes to waterproofing integrity, some are actually perfect in every way, but only very few. Most finished shower niches available today share a fatal flaw. They're "installed" simply by inserting them into a hole in the shower wall after tiling is complete, and applying a bead of silicone to glue them in place. This makes them vulnerable to perimeter leaks. In contrast, only a few finished niches attach to the shower wall framing during a full shower remodel, which means they're also firmly attached to the tile assembly and the waterproofing membrane. These steps are essential for proper waterproofing.
