Install a Shower Shelf on Tile Wall
Video Overview
This tutorial demonstrates a retrofit method for adding a floating corner shower shelf to an already tiled wall. Instead of drilling through the tile and waterproof membrane, two small sections of grout are removed on both corner walls to allow the shelf tabs to insert securely. The process focuses on accurate grout removal, dry fitting, and silicone sealing.
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1 – Determine Shelf Height
Select a shelf height that aligns with the horizontal grout lines and is readily accessible in the shower area.
Step 2 – Mark Install Location
Mark grout joints where installation tabs will insert.
Step 3 – Grout Removal
Remove grout at marked points to create notches, being careful not to chip adjacent tiles.
Step 4 – Clean Notches and Dry Fit
Clean debris and dry fit the shelf to confirm alignment and tab engagement.
Step 5 – Seal and Install Shelf
Apply silicone sealant, insert the shelf, and clean excess for a clean finish.
