This is Steve Gehrmann from Redblock and SKG Renovations. I’m a bathroom remodel professional with 15+ years of experience building bathrooms and showers (Steve’s Bio), and this is my How to Build a Shower Niche video, to accompany my blog post of the same name.
This How to Build a Shower Niche video provides complete and detailed instructions on how to build your own custom, floor to ceiling vertical shower niche, using Wedi Building Board and Redblock rb3 stainless steel shower niche shelves. The tile installed in the niche and on the surrounding shower wall is a composite marble tile.
Since marble is quite a soft stone, I decided not to install regular tile edge trim around the niche perimeter and instead just polish the edges of the tile to give the niche a clean, uninterrupted finish. And I must say, it turned out pretty nice. You can see a bit more detail about the polishing process (and everything else) in my blog post, How to Build a Custom Shower Niche, Step by Step.
I also wanted to let you guys know that this video shows most of the steps laid out in the blog post but there are some important additional instructions in the post that I did not have time to go over in the video. So, I would recommend that you go over both the video and the blog post to make sure that you get the complete story.
